Tom Keane is the founder of ETHOS Empowerment specialising in safety leadership, human factors, behavioural safety and cultural change. Their most recent projects include helping Tullow Ghana further develop a learning culture, assisting Irish Water and Repsol Sinopec implement a  Safety Cultural improvement programme. Ethos also provide risk assessment training throughout the Energy Industry in the UK and they have a long term contract providing safety coaches to TAQA in the North Sea.

Tom’s career started in the Fire Service (UK) in 1977 he served in several posts including Operational Fire fighter, Recruit and Officer Training, Operational Watch Commander and Brigade Staff Officer. Tom is a Graduate of the Institute of Fire Engineers. With over thirteen years of experience in emergency response; he witnessed first-hand the tragic results of unsafe behaviours.

He moved into the Energy Sector in 1990, initially providing command and control training for major incidents. He then moved into an operational position as Compliance Officer for a BP asset within the North Sea at the same time studied at Aston University for a Post Graduate Diploma in Risk Assessment and Safety Technology.

Since 1998 Tom has provided consultancy services to the Energy and Utilities sectors.

He is Director for Ethos Empowerment ( ) and a Associate Consultant for Procyon Group in the Middle-East ( )
