Hannes leads PwC’s Sustainability and Climate Change practice in the Middle East. He is based in Abu Dhabi since 2009 and brings 13 years of experience across 15 countries in MENA, Europe and the United States, including working as a government advisor in energy and climate change at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs where he covered global, oil, gas, renewables and nuclear markets and UAE bilateral energy and climate change relations.
Hannes focuses on significant environment and climate change trends that are impacting the MENA region. His work includes the economic, social and environmental strategies and policies for sustainable development - including energy security, food security, subsidy reforms, sector governance, public awareness, renewable energy, energy efficiency, waste management, green finance and climate change mitigation and adaptation.
His wider industry experience includes power and utilities, up- and downstream oil and gas, education, waste, mining, transport and manufacturing. Hannes holds a Master’s Degree in Environmental Policy and Regulation from the London School of Economics.
